With so much to plan in preparation for your wedding day, the Bride’s Room or Bridal Suite is sometimes overlooked. Often times this is because we don’t realize just how important the Bride’s Room is or the major role that it plays in the bride preparing for her wedding.
While there are so many more obvious things to think about and plan with a wedding, the Bridal Suite is an important part of the wedding as well. The bridal suite is not just a place to do hair and makeup, but it serves as a sanctuary for the bride as well. There are many reasons that a bride needs and should have a Bride’s Room, but here are my top five reasons you need a bridal suite:
Privacy is probably the most important role of a Bride's Room. By having a Bride's Room it gives the bride and her bridal party a space that is all their own to prepare for the wedding. Privacy is also needed when the bride or a member of the bridal party needs to freshen-up between events or change clothing. Without a Bride's Room, the bride and her bridal party would be left to get ready for the day's celebration in a bathroom or other less dedicated space that is open to guests coming and going and would expose the bride and her bridal party to casual chitchat from guests that would keep the bride from doing the things that she needs to do prior to her wedding or other events. Having a bridal suite also gives the bride a private space to reflect and mentally prepare to say "I do".
The bridal suite also serves as a meeting location for the bridal party. Having a central meeting location will build unity among the bridal party as they do hair and makeup. It will be a location where gifts can be exchanged and memories will be made. Having a central meeting location will also ease the bride's nerves and provide some stress relief.
It can almost be a guarantee that the bridal party has more items that are needed for the wedding than that of the groom's party. A bridal suite gives the bridal party a place to secure their belongings, as well as a space to hang dresses. Without a Bride's Room the bridesmaids may have to resort to having to place their belongings in a coat closet, a bathroom or even their car. Having a place to secure belongings is a must have for the bridal party and is less of an inconvenience for the bridal party, as well as the guests. Guests don't need to be tripping over the bridal party's bags in a bathroom and shouldn't need to push makeup aside just to use the sink.
Hair and makeup are the most obvious reasons for a Bride's Room. But let's be honest, like mentioned above, guests shouldn't need to push makeup out of the way to use a sink in a bathroom. Having a separate space for the bridal makes the guests as well as the bridal party feel less inconvenienced when it comes to getting ready for the wedding. By having a Bridal Suite, the bridal party will have a separate space where they can get ready without having to feel rushed like they would if they had to do get ready in a bathroom that is shared by wedding guests. A Bride's Room would also make it so the guests didn't feel like they were intruding on the bridal party just because they had to use the same restroom that the bridal party might otherwise be doing hair and makeup in. Save the awkwardness and set aside a room to use as a Bride's Room.
Last, but certainly important is photography. A Bride's Room allows for private photos of the bridal party as they prepare for the day. Because it's a private, secluded the room can be beautifully decorated so that the photos have a gorgeous backdrop for the photos. Photos of the bride and bridesmaids getting read for the wedding in a public restroom and exiting from a stall just doesn’t have the same appeal as a bride exiting from a beautifully decorated dressing room. These are photos that most likely not only cost the bride hundreds of dollars, but will be photos that will be cherished for a lifetime.
